Before Sunrise
The story of two strangers meeting up while in-transit has been used by so many film makers. But I believe no one has captured anything as spectacular as what you see in "Before Sunrise".
The story is about this guy who comes all the way from US to Madrid to meet the love of his life. He is dejected after meeting his love who is no more interested in him. Now he doesn't have any option other than heading back home. Since he has little money he decides to take the cheapest flight which is quite a few days away.
Now all he need to do is kill his time. So he takes the Euro-pass and roams around Europe. It is when on this train that he meets this french lady who is on her way back to Paris from Budapest.
They both strike a conversation when his stop nears. He has to get down in Vienna to take the flight. He convinces her to get down and spend some time with him before continuing her journey to Paris.
What happens in the next 24hours forms the gist of the story. It is a simple movie with a very realistic practical theme.
Vienna has been captured very beautifully. There are some scenes that make you want to watch them again and again. Especially the one where the protagonists pretend to call each other's friends to inform about themselves.
One more scene that was particular cute is when they go into a music store to listen to a record and end up giving each other secretive glances. The way the entire movie has been shot looks almost natural!!
Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke have given a performance of a life time. IMDB currently rates it at an 8.1. A must watch for any romantic movie lover!!
