Empathizing Dilemma
Okay!! Where do I start? I guess everyone of you have come across this type of "friend" so to speak friend cos these are people who self proclaim themselves to be your best buds. I swear I wanna run miles away from such "friends".
Recently happened to bump into one such ones. This lady who lives in my apartment complex has this incredibly bad timing to drop in to say "Hi".
I hear the door bell ring at 9 - 9:30 in the night and I know who that is. "Wow" and what incredible excuses they have to let themselves in. I don't want to start on that one. That's a whole new story altogether.
I guess it is my mistake to begin with. I empathized with her. Isn't that one of the oldest human traits. Don't you yawn when someone sitting next to you in the bus say for example yawns. Chances are "yes" you will. Now I just happened to do a little empathizing. Now I get worried every time I open my front door since you never know when she may just know that I am out in the open and pounce on me with some little excuse.
Anyway getting back to the point why do people show false concern. That is the main topic of discussion here. The other day I was not keeping well and she happened to drop in and was like why don't you go to your mother's place. You will feel better and relaxed. I said I will definitely not be able to "relax" for various reasons, she was like why don't you call your mom here and get pampered. I just had to smile and say that can't be possible either since she has a life of her own and for god's sake we are all grown ups here.
Then she found that she wasn't going anywhere from that and started the idea of "Why don't we exchange tops?" I was like where did that come from for heaven's sake. She said it may pep me up and make me feel good and stuff like that and I must say I can not be rude at any one's face but subtly told that I am not comfortable with the idea. She jumped at that and was like "You can give it a try!!" and I was like not knowing what to do. After she went my hubby had a hearty laugh at my situation. A few minutes had passed when the door bell rang and it was her with a pink top of hers!!
